Renting available building space to the community:
Efforts to be made to increase and enhance the visibility of the fact that our space can
be rented for a variety of events. Our rates are less than the Meuser Park Community Center and we should try to capitalize on that fact.
Skills we are looking for: Individuals who are creative and capable of designing digital flyers to post around the church, on our website and social media pages, and possibly in the community.
Host weekly or monthly Bingo nights:
Hosting Bingo games for the community in Fellowship Hall. Probably best to start with monthly Bingo nights and see if there is enough interest to go to weekly or bi-weekly games.
Skills we are looking for: Individuals who enjoy Bingo is a good start! Organizer would be in charge of procuring supplies, equipment, appropriate gaming license, etc., and should be detail oriented, as well as comfortable handling money per the UFLC Money Handling Policy.
Hold a Rummage Sale:
A rummage sale is a big undertaking and would require a team planning effort. Pr. Neel from St. Andrew’s said his rummage sale organizers would be happy to share their knowledge and experience with us.
Skills we are looking for: Individuals interested in this endeavor should be enthusiastic, energetic, and detail oriented, as well as team players willing to collaborate with others.
After School Program for WASD Students:
Wilson Area School District does not have a community center that is open for kids to go to after school – whether for homework help, a quiet place to study and do homework, or a place to hang out and participate in activities with friends. We are ideally located by both the high school and one of the elementary schools. This would be a big undertaking and would require a lot of planning and collaborating with a variety of possible partners, including the WASD, the Wilson Area CTC Coalition, area colleges and universities, and possibly retired educators, among others. As a new ministry, we could apply for a new ministry grant from the synod (grants can be as large as $10,000).
Skills we are looking for: Individuals with project management skills would be great for this program, as would those with collaboration, leadership and good people skills. As this would likely be a multi-step project, individuals willing to do behind the scenes work would be needed to make phone calls, send out mailings, visit local businesses, run errands, and the like.
Greeting Card Sale:
This project would require someone to be the designated organizer and planner, setting the dates of the sale, distributing sale information, collecting sales, submitting sales and organizing the pick up of sales.
Skills we are looking for: The individual willing to be in charge of this sale would need to be detail oriented, skilled at meeting deadlines, and comfortable handling money per the UFLC Money Handling Policy.
